The Maha Swamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam had cherished a desire to revive Kanchipuram to its pristine glory as a center of learning. The Viswa Mahavidyalaya at Kanchi was established with the benign Blessings of Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and it attained the status of Deemed University in 1993.

Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, formed under the aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust in 1993, is located in a sprawling complex of 50 acres at Enathur, at a distance of about 4 Kilometres from Kanchipuram.

SOFT COMPUTING APPLICATIONS TO POWER SYSTEMS & POWER ELECTRONICS

Soft Computing signifies to the science of reasoning, thinking and deduction that identifies and uses the real world phenomena of grouping, memberships, and classification of various quantities under study. As like, it is an allowance of natural heuristics and capable of production with complex systems because it does not require exacting mathematical definitions and distinctions for the system components. Hard computing is very difficult, it is accepting of imprecision, uncertainty, and partial truth. In effect, the role model for soft computing is like a human mind. The principle of soft computing is: Exploit the acceptance for imprecision, uncertainty, and partial truth to achieve tractability, robustness, and low solution cost. Soft computing is a partnership in which each of the constituents contributes a distinct methodology for addressing the problem in its domain logic.

Although the solutions obtained by these methods do not always equal to the mathematically stern solutions, a near optimal solution is sometimes enough for most practical purposes. These biologically inspired methods are called Soft Computing. Soft Computing is an umbrella term for a collection of computing techniques. It refers to a collection of computational techniques in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning in engineering areas there are several systems Aircraft, spacecraft, cooling and heating, communication network, mobile robot, inverters and converters, electric power system, power electronics and motion control etc. Power system simulation, optimization, and control can be accepting in the category of highly computer intensive problems found in practical engineering applications. Modern power system studies have more complex mathematical models owing to the use of power electronic based control devices and the implementation of deregulation policies which leads to operation close to the system limits. New computing techniques, such as those based on artificial intelligence and evolutionary principles, are also being introduced in these studies.

All these facts are increasing even further the computer requirements of power system applications. High-Performance Computing, encompassing parallel, vector, and other processing techniques, have achieved a stage of industrial development which allows economical use in this type of application Power electronics is the application of solid-state electronics for control and conversion of electronic powers. This deals with the design, control, computation and integration of nonlinear, time-varying energy-processing electronic systems with fast dynamics. Power Electronics is the study of electronic circuits in order to control the flow of electrical energy. The first high power electronic devices were mercury-arc valves. In modern systems, the conversion is performed with semiconductor switching devices such as diodes.
